Holidays are a magical time at Huffman House B&B
Starting each November we roll out the seasonal decorations. It takes weeks to decorate the exterior and interior of this grand old home. The front yard displays large lighted trays, dear and each one of the natural trees supports some type of lights. The front porch is wrapped with green garland, white lights and red bows. The front of the home it is draped in white icicle lights and every new guest is greeted by our lighted sleigh filled with poinsettias and snow covered branches. Minden, LA starts decorating their historic downtown at the same time. Each lamp post, in our beautiful downtown, is wrapped with garland and topped with a red bow. The center of Main Street is covered with lighted displays such as a nativity scene, nutcrackers, Christmas trees, reindeer and of course jolly old St. Nick.
Inside the guests at Huffman House are greeted with the smells of the season, Christmas trees, cinnamon and cookies. The home itself has three Christmas trees each decorated differently. Two of the Christmas trees are fun and whimsical offering a glimpse back to our childhood. The third and most grand tree is located in the living room, this tree of silver, purple, green and gold pays homage to the Peacock. Spend the weekend and explore all of the Christmas displays throughout Minden. Is the perfect time of year to hold hands with the one you love and stroll through the beautiful lights. Come back after your walk and cuddle up on the front porch swing, listen to holiday favorites while sipping on a warm cup of hot chocolate.
This year the Huffman House will be hosting a Christmas Cookie Workshop and exchange. Come spend the weekend with us and allow our hostess Kimberly to share with you her secrets for creating sweet holiday delights including cookies, fudge and more. When you leave this workshop you will leave with the set of recipes and the knowledge to make some holiday favorites. You will also end this work-shop with two decorative cookie tins, they will be filled with cookies and treats you’ve made, one is for you to enjoy and one to share with that special friend or family member. The Christmas Cookie Workshop will be 4 hours and come complete with lunch, snacks and Christmas toddies. This wonderful holiday package comes with two nights stay, recipes, all of the ingredients to complete recipes, lunch, hors d’oeuvres, Christmas toddies and two decorative Christmas tins. This workshop is $350 for the workshop and a king size sleeping room for two nights or $300 for the workshop with a queen size sleeping room for two nights. Of course each morning you will be receiving a cook to order breakfast. If you have a friend in the area that you would like to invite it is $50 to add them to the fun.
